Poulsbo Real Estate

Poulsbo Real Estate - Poulsbo Homes - Poulsbo Community

Front street in downtown Poulsbo - the perfect place to find Poulsbo real estateKnown as Little Norway, Poulsbo became an incorporated city in 1908, and though it has been a small community for most of that time, it has a delightful charm and has more recently started to develop into the commercial center of North Kitsap. Poulsbo is close to Liberty Bay and the Hood Canal with views of the Olympic and Cascade Mountain Ranges, good schools, active community service organizations - Rotary and Lions club, numerous active Churches, low crime, and an easy commute to Seattle (ferries on Bainbridge Island and at Kingston just 10 miles away). It's also centrally located to commute to Bangor Navy Base, Keyport Naval Facility, Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, and Olympic College Poulsbo Campus. Recently Poulsbo added a new Walmart and other retail development on the west side.

Real Estate in Poulsbo is more expensive than in Bremerton but considerably lower priced than on Bainbridge Island.

Poulsbo was started by Norwegian immigrants in the 1880's. The City was established in 1886 when a post office was established. The King of Norway visited to commemorate the Centennial in 1986. Town government was established in 1908 with the first city council meeting, for which a centennial celebration was held in 2008. Spelling of Poulsbo originated because the original post office application sent by Iver Moe in 1886 was misread to change Paulsbo ("Paul's home" in Norweigian) to Poulsbo.
